The Australian Industry and Skills Committee (AISC) called for nominations from suitably qualified and experiences individuals for the vacant organisational and individual industry expert positions on the Extractive Industry Reference Committee (IRC) as listed in the table below. Nominations closed COB Monday 28 November 2016.
Extractive Industries (Quarrying) activity is heavily influenced by the level of building and construction activity. Quarry materials do not tend to be transported over large distances and are generally located in regions close to where construction activity takes place; meaning Quarrying activity is geographically spread across the country. The most common quarry products in Australia are sand, gravel, sandstone and limestone.

The draft structure for the Extractive IRC was published on this website on 11 October 2016, providing an opportunity for industry to comment on whether the structure would adequately represent the industry. The AISC welcomed the comments received from a range of stakeholders and there was general agreement that the structures were fit for purpose and should proceed to a call for nominations.
