Sport and Recreation Sector Industry Reference Committee (IRC)

The Australian Industry and Skills Committee (AISC) are reviewing Industry Reference Committees to ensure the structure and membership of each Committee provides the best possible industry coverage and expertise to support training package development. For more information about the review process see the IRC Review Page.

The Sport and Recreation Sector Industry Reference Committee (IRC) is responsible for all components of the SIS – Sports, Fitness and Recreation Training Package.

The Sport and Recreation Sector IRC has responsibility for 23 qualifications, the following sub-sectors within the training package that may be impacted by the review and development are:

  • Aquatic and Community Recreation
  • Fitness;
  • Outdoor Recreation; and Outdoor adventure
  • Sport

The table below shows a structure for the Sports and Recreation IRC as proposed by the IRC’s existing members. The proposed structure for the IRC was open for public comment and consultation up to 6 January 2017.

Industry stakeholders should note that membership of the Industry Reference Committee is not the only avenue for raising their views. The Sport and Recreation Sector IRC will be responsible for ensuring, with the support of the Skills Service Organisation that supports them (SkillsIQ) that all relevant industry stakeholders have been provided with opportunities to input to training package development and support the outcomes of the IRC’s deliberations. Specific expertise/ advice outside the reach of the IRC could also be sought on an as needs basis, including through the establishment of a Technical Advisory Committee.

If you are interested in nominating for a vacant position on the Sport and Recreation IRC please keep an eye on this webpage.
