The Ambulance and Paramedic IRC is responsible for seven qualifications in the Health Training Package. The qualifications and units of competency available under this training package can be viewed at training.gov.au
Nominations for the Ambulance and Paramedic IRC were open until 30 January 2017.
The AISC seeks to ensure that the membership of the Ambulance and Paramedic IRC, as a whole, provides the best possible industry coverage and expertise to support training package development for the industry. The AISC is looking for individuals with extensive experience in, and knowledge of, their industry sector, with the capacity to proactively apply these attributes to the work of the IRC.
Please note that while it may not be possible to include every nominee on the IRC, it is important to remember that the Skills Service Organisation (SkillsIQ) and the IRC will consult widely during the training package development process and will be supported by Technical Advisory Committee members who may be consulted on technical and related specific industry information on an as-needs basis to support the decision-making of the committee.
The Australian Industry and Skills Committee (AISC) are reviewing Industry Reference Committees (IRCs) to ensure the structure and membership of each IRC provides the best possible industry coverage and expertise to support training package development. For more information about the review process see the IRC Review Page.
Further information about the role of IRCs and how they will operate can be found in the IRC operating framework.
IRC Structure - Feedback
The draft structure for the Ambulance and Paramedic IRC was published on this website on 9 November 2016, providing an opportunity for industry to comment on whether the structure would adequately represent the industry. The AISC welcomed the comments received from a range of stakeholders and the structure has been amended in response to the feedback received before proceeding to a call for nominations.
In the employer category the number of positions allocated to private ambulance service providers was increased with a commensurate decrease in the number of positions allocated to the public sector providers.
Organisations that have already been allocated a position on the IRC do not have to submit a nomination. The AISC will directly invite these organisations to nominate their representative.
