Metalliferous Mining Industry Reference Committee (IRC)

The Australian Industry and Skills Committee (AISC) called for nominations from suitably qualified and experiences individuals for the vacant organisational and individual industry expert positions on the Metalliferous Mining Industry Reference Committee (IRC). Nominations closed COB Monday 28 November 2016.

Metalliferous Mining involves both surface and underground operations. It is dominated by iron ore, supported by other commodities such as copper, nickel, gold, silver, lead and zinc. RII Training package qualifications related to metalliferous mining are also used in small mining operations, gemstone, uranium and minerals sands mining.

IRC Structure

The draft structure for the Metalliferous Mining IRC was published on this website on 11 October 2016, providing an opportunity for industry to comment on whether the structure would adequately represent the industry. The AISC welcomed the comments received from a range of stakeholders and there was general agreement that the structures were fit for purpose and should proceed to a call for nominations.
