Automotive Heavy Vehicle Industry Reference Committee

The Australian Industry and Skills Committee (AISC) called for nominations from suitably qualified and experienced individuals for the vacant organisational and individual industry expert positions on the Automotive Heavy Vehicle Industry Reference Committee (IRC) as listed in the table below. Nominations closed COB Monday 28 November 2016.

The Automotive Heavy Vehicle IRC will have responsibility for national training package qualifications relevant to the:

  • Automotive mechanical heavy vehicle sector that services and repairs heavy vehicles, including agricultural machinery, heavy commercial vehicles, and mobile plant machinery.
  • Automotive bus, truck and trailer manufacturing sector that includes component parts suppliers and the manufacturers of specialised vehicles such as fire engines, street sweepers and emergency service vehicles.

IRC Structure

The draft structure for the Automotive Heavy Vehicle IRC was published on this website on 10 October 2016, providing an opportunity for industry to comment on whether the structure would adequately represent the industry. The AISC welcomed the comments received from a range of stakeholders and there was general agreement that the structure was fit for purpose and should proceed to a call for nominations. One change was made as a result of this consultation – with the allocation of a position for the Heavy Vehicle Industry Australia (HVIA).

1 Construction and Mining Equipment Industry Group (CMEIG) CMEIG nationally represent the construction and mining equipment industry and allied equipment and services.
1 Heavy Vehicle Industry Australia (HVIA) HVIA represents and advances the interests of manufacturers and suppliers of heavy vehicles and their components, equipment and technology.
