The 39th meeting of the Australian Industry and Skills Committee (AISC) was held on 21 July 2021.
VET Reform update
The Committee received an overview of discussions from the recent Transition Advisory Group (TAG) meetings which are focused on providing advice to Skills Ministers on transition and implementation to the new industry engagement arrangements.

Transition approach
The Committee discussed key risks and mitigation strategies for maintaining the national training system, including training product development and approval processes while new industry engagement arrangements are established.
Potential identified risks include:
• poorly managed handover of incomplete training products, hampering timely completion
• industry stops reviewing training products during the transition period
• loss of training product expertise/capability from the system over the short term.
Case for Endorsement – New
The Committee considered the following ten new Cases for Endorsement across ten Industry Reference Committees (IRCs) for referral to Skills Ministers:

The case is to be resubmitted to the AISC in December 2021. |
Technicians Support Services IRC HLT Health Training Package |
The Case for Endorsement includes three projects: Project A – Hospital or Health Services Pharmacy Support • 2 updated qualifications • 9 updated units of competency • 14 new units of competency |
Not Approved for endorsement. The AISC agreed to refer the case back to the Technicians Support Services IRC to address concerns around: • proposed entry requirements in the Certificate IV that do not comply with the Training Package Products Policy • the intent and objectives of the qualification, and how proposed updates, including in relation to mandatory workplace requirements, support these. |
