TOWNSVILLE -
Townsville , is a friendly city in
Townsville
has an average of 320 sunny days each year and average rainfall of 1200mm.
Daytime summer temperatures are around 21-32 degrees Celsius and winter daytime
Temperatures are 17 – 26 degrees Celsius.
Our warm
climate really does not allow heavy winter clothing. However June to September
nights and early mornings can be quite cool and a small amount of warm clothing
(light) is advisable.
Living in
Townsville is relaxed and informal in comparison to the larger cities. Dress is less formal, men
still wear a tie to work but it is very unusual to see them wearing a suit or
jacket. Invitations to functions usually specify the dress which could be
“smart casual’ or ‘tropical formal’ which means a neat open-necked shirt well
dressed, but not the black tie and lounge suit.
WAITING FOR THE WORLD
Homestay
is the most important part of an International student’s stay in a foreign
country, and it can be one of the most rewarding experiences of their life.
We try to
place our International students in carefully chosen homes in Townsville.
Host
families are carefully assessed for their suitability following the completion
of the application forms and home inspection and meetings. A pre-requisite for
our ‘Homestay’ parents is a suitability check
performed by the Government who issue a suitability card (Blue card). We ensure
quality accommodation, safe environment, and that the Host families are
carefully selected because of their kind and caring personalities, and their
genuine desire and willingness to open their homes and share their families lives and customs with the student. There are
several ‘Homestay’ parents in the Townsville area who
enjoy the experience of hosting international students and have done so on a
regular basis, some long term and some short term. For example, Prue and Rick
have hosted ten students over the last two years, and still maintain contact with
many of them. They have also visited
Townsville
is a multicultural society with citizens from a wide variety of backgrounds
